Cold Humidifier

A cold humidifier is something that can help prevent or treat a vast assortment of illnesses and symptoms. It works well for adults but it also works great for kids as those who have a humidifier in their room to help with the alleviation of cold, flu, sinuses and/or a combination of all of the above.

There are actually two options when it comes to humidifiers and it is either a cold humidifier or a warm humidifier. Although when it comes to young children it’s recommended that you go with a cold humidifier we’ll explain both so you can know the differences and make an educated decision on your humidifier purchase.

Warm Humidifier

A warm humidifier is a very common kind of humidifier even though it isn’t the most commonly thought of humidifier. A warm air humidifier works to put moisture in the air through the heating of the water and turning it into steam and then releasing the created steam into the air. There are times that you’ll see the warm air humidifier referred to as a steam vaporizer.

Cold Humidifier

The cold humidifier is one that is designed to be able to release cool moisture into the air through the rapidly moving disk inside the unit. There is no heat in this system so the air put out is cool. For this reason it is a good humidifier for a young child as there is zero chance of burns if the child should get a little too curious and get to close to the unit. They are sometimes referred to as either a cold mist humidifier or a cold air humidifier.

Warm Humidifier Pros

The warm air humidifier or steam vaporizers are tremendous units for the treating of colds and flu. The warm air that comes out of the unit is very comforting during the cold weather months and cold climates and they will be a little quieter than their cold air humidifier counterpart.

Warm Humidifier Cons

The warm air humidifier is going to cover a much smaller amount of space than the cold humidifier. If you run it too much or too high of a setting you can have the feeling of your room left being humid or muggy. There is of course the obvious problem of heat. Also like mentioned before if you have a curious child or for that matter even a pet that gets too close to the unit and touches it our puts their face in the steam there is a real and true risk of severe burns.

Cold Humidifier Pros

The cold humidifier is going to be the most comfortable if you’re using it in a warm climate. They will also be a lot easier to clean then the warm humidifier. There are also some cold air humidifier units that can remove the amount of dust that is in the homes air.

Cold Humidifier Cons

You’ll find that in some different environments that the cold humidifier can make a room seem overly clammy and cold. Most of the cold humidifiers will be noisier than the warm humidifiers which will make it more difficult for someone that is very noise sensitive to sleep. The one thing to point out though is a lot of people will find it soothing and help them to get to sleep it really just depends on your noise sensitivity level.
